THE BRASS - Atlanta, GA

Every few years a rock and roll band appears that is so fantastic they set themselves apart from the rest. One such band is Atlanta, Georgia's The Brass. They recently sent me one of their CD's that made me take a step back and take a good hard look at this incredible band.

The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Ernest Boetz, guitarist Lucky Forrester, bassist J.C. Keever who recently left the band and drummer Chuck Rogers.

Formed three years ago, their music is a straight forward, bluesy rock reminiscent of the early 70's rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Bad Company and Aerosmith. As Ernest Boetz told me when I spoke with him recently by phone, "Like Chuck Berry only a little ouder. Anybody can rock, but few people can roll." The Brass plays the kind of music that parents are always telling their teenagers to turn down the volume.

The vocals are strong and passionate with thoughtful guitar arrangements and a rhythm section that thunders along like a freight train out of control. Their songs are well written and arranged with a goal to bringing back what was once termed "pure rock 'n roll".

Thier live show is reported to be extremely energetic. According to Mr. Boetz, their live shows are "Upbeat. We want people to have fun. We leave politics at home." After a show people tend to come up to the band members and thank them for such a great show. "They treat us like kings." reports Boetz.

They've been playing the clubs around the Atlanta area and are now planning a tour up the east coast in the future. If they hit your town, be sure to go give this incredible, talented band your support. As Boetz explained, " When we are in front of a crowd, we will win over any crowd. If The Brass doesn't put on one of the best rock and roll shows you've ever seen, I'll give you your money back."

Their plans for the future include recording a couple of singles to use to solicit radio stations and record companies. This band definitely needs to be signed right now so they can share their great music with the entire world. Simply put, good rock music just doesn't get any better than The Brass.

Their CD's are sold in major stores around the Atlanta area. For information on how to purchase one by mail, write to The Brass, C/O 5.7 Management, 921 Myrtle Street N.E., Suite 7, Atlanta, GA 30309 or visit their web site at: www.infinitecreation.com/bands/brass/
